About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide writing, editorial, and technical assistance to a federal agency policy team
  • Draft, edit, format, and review responses, recommendations, policies, procedures, reports, and other documents
  • Manage and coordinate approval and clearance processes and update leadership
  • Provide research and editorial support to the Intergovernmental Affairs team
  • Coordinate with the data team on FOIA requests, congressional inquiries, and stakeholder questions
  • Review and edit procedures and program guidance
  • Coordinate internal and external reviews and compile recommendations for the policy team
  • Conduct research for talking points, memoranda, reports, briefings, analyses, and other materials
  • Support inter-agency and intra-agency coordination
  • Develop and review meeting agendas, reports, and responses to executive and Congressional inquiries
  • Perform document and knowledge management tasks
  • Support special projects as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BA degree in public policy, social work, law, journalism, or a related field
  • 4–5 years of relevant experience with a BA
  • Strong copy-editing, research, and writing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office tools, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated experience editing and managing documents for internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience conducting scholarly research and drafting documents for leadership and/or other stakeholders
  • Existing Public Trust or ability to obtain one
  • MBI (T2) public trust requirement
  • Less than 10% travel
  • Adobe product suite experience preferred
  • Background in law or social work preferred
  • Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and underserved populations preferred
  • US citizenship is not required
