About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct at least one scheduled in-family visit per assigned scholar family per month
  • Use evidence-based parent education curricula and the Parents as Teachers model during family visits
  • Assess family strengths, needs, and barriers to academic success; document findings in the designated data system
  • Build trusting, non-judgmental, trauma-informed relationships with scholar families
  • Facilitate individual and group parent education workshops on child development, positive parenting, family financial planning, and strengths-based parenting
  • Coach parents on supporting children's early learning and developmental milestones
  • Connect families with childcare, food assistance, housing support, healthcare, and transportation resources
  • Support parents in setting, tracking, and celebrating family goals
  • Maintain complete records of visits, contacts, referrals, and family progress
  • Complete visit logs, case notes, and reports within 48 hours of each family visit
  • Track monthly family visit completion rates and flag scheduling or safety barriers
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly caseload, visit completion, and family outcome reports
  • Collaborate with Scholar Program Coordinators, Career and Engagement Managers, and other team members on wraparound scholar support
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, case conferences, and professional development
  • Coordinate referrals and follow up on service linkage and utilization
  • Represent Generation Hope at community events, partner meetings, and school/college outreach
  • Follow family visit safety protocols, emergency procedures, mandatory reporting obligations, confidentiality requirements, and applicable privacy laws
  • Complete one 60–90 minute visit per family each calendar month, primarily in the family's home, with at least 48 hours' notice and makeup visits when feasible

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required in Social Work, Education, Child Development, Psychology, Family Studies, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in family visiting, family services, case management, or parent education
  • Knowledge of evidence-based parent education models, such as Parents as Teachers, Nurse-Family Partnership, or comparable frameworks
  • Experience with data management systems, such as Salesforce or similar, for case documentation and outcome tracking
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and ability to work respectfully with BIPOC communities, first-generation college students, and young parents
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage a full caseload and meet documentation deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in community settings, exercise sound professional judgment, and operate with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal or approved transportation required
  • Completion of required background checks, trainings, and certifications prior to conducting any family visit
  • Master's degree preferred, not required
  • Experience working with student parents, young families, or underserved/underrepresented communities strongly preferred
  • Parents as Teachers foundational training preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
