About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Generation Hope’s community engagement and programmatic outreach efforts in New Orleans
  • Provide holistic case management for a caseload of 8–12 Generation Hope Scholars who are teen parents in college
  • Support academic planning and navigation of college systems, including financial aid and transferring to a four-year school
  • Refer Scholars to government and community services and assist with accessing basic-needs support
  • Provide emotional support to Scholars
  • Supervise mentoring relationships and address conflicts or challenges between Scholars and Sponsors
  • Maintain accurate program records in the program database for program evaluation
  • Organize and plan program events, including field trips, social events, and trainings
  • Support event planning and logistics, including vendor coordination, scheduling, technical setup, and communications
  • Assist with Scholar and Sponsor applications and interview scheduling
  • Track Sponsor pledges and coordinate with Operations
  • Manage the Fall and Spring tuition check process, including maintaining a monday.com board, drafting invoices, and sending invoices to bill.com
  • Support occasional evening and weekend events, including facilitation and logistics
  • Represent Generation Hope at community events such as college and career fairs, volunteer expos, and farmers markets
  • Build relationships with referral partners and local organizations
  • Use LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other personal social media accounts to recruit Scholars and Sponsors
  • Collaborate with Communications on recruitment marketing campaigns
  • Cultivate volunteer and mentorship candidates through local volunteerism initiatives
  • Attend approximately one evening and one Saturday programmatic event per month
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 1 year of experience working with young adults and recruiting volunteers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, specifically Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Proficiency in Canva
  • Record keeping and data entry skills
  • Ability to travel to sites around the greater New Orleans area, up to 65 miles, on a regular basis
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate Scholars’ and families’ schedules
  • Availability for special events and trainings, often evenings and weekends
  • Integrity, credibility, and commitment to Generation Hope’s mission
  • Ability to travel via plane, train, or car to trainings, conferences, project sites, and related activities
  • Ability to meet the onsite work schedule by the start date
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at times
