About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain Python backend microservices supporting CI/CD pipelines
  • Develop APIs and automation components for deployment and testing environments
  • Monitor and maintain backend services
  • Investigate issues and contribute to distributed-system availability and performance
  • Use Claude, Cursor, and Kiro for coding, code review, testing, and debugging with appropriate verification
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Continuously develop technical skills with support from senior engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3–5 years of experience in software engineering
  • Exposure to microservices or distributed systems and production support/maintenance
  • Proficiency in Python for backend applications and automation tooling
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based technologies; AWS preferred and Azure a bonus
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts, pipelines, automation tools, and version control systems
  • Practical, day-to-day experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Kiro
  • Experience with AI-assisted development, agentic coding workflows, prompt engineering, and evaluating AI-generated code
  • Experience building and maintaining microservices in a CI/CD context
  • Practical knowledge of cloud infrastructure and backend system development
  • Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and scaling backend applications
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and best practices in automation and CI/CD
  • Experience with or curiosity about agentic workflows
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow toward broader scope
  • Candidates must reside in Durham, North Carolina or Indianapolis, Indiana
