About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Catalog materials in all formats, including print, electronic, online, and multimedia
  • Create metadata for materials in various languages and subject areas
  • Maintain metadata in the Law Library catalog and digital repositories
  • Apply metadata to digital collections
  • Perform original and copy cataloging for monographs, serials, rare books, and Special Collections materials
  • Maintain OCLC local holding data for serial titles
  • Carry out special projects and other assigned duties
  • Work under the supervision of the Head of Cataloging and Metadata
  • Collaborate with Access Services, Collection Development, Digital Initiatives, Special Collections, and Acquisitions staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma
  • 3-5 years of library experience
  • Knowledge of standard academic library practices and procedures
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet, database, and cloud-based document storage applications
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a complex and changing environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with cataloging tools and standards (e.g. OCLC Connexion, RDA, LC Classification, LC Subject Headings) preferred
  • Familiarity with law and/or legal materials preferred
  • One year of cataloging experience, preferably in an academic setting
  • Experience with a library services platform, such as Ex Libris Alma preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Flexibility to take on new responsibilities and projects as needed
