About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a member of the O’Neill Institute’s core team
- Support event planning and execution
- Create and distribute content across a range of platforms
- Conduct outreach activities that build brand awareness
- Provide general communications assistance supporting the organization’s central mission and goals
- Maintain contact and publication databases
- Monitor media requests
- Track Communications KPIs
- Plan, coordinate, publicize, and implement special events such as social events, conferences, and meetings
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Institute’s centers to connect people, ideas, and initiatives
- Support communications and events that advance the Institute’s work
- Handle communications and marketing, expense management, event and planning execution, and technical support
- Report to the Managing Director and engage daily with O’Neill Institute staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.A. degree
- Minimum 3-5 years professional experience in coordinating, managing, communications, journalism, marketing, and/or events
- Demonstrated leadership and collegiality
- Positive and friendly personality
- Collaborative spirit with solid relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
- Detailed-oriented with superior organizational skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Exceptional at handling multiple tasks with competing priorities
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written
- Excellent time management
- Experience creating content for social media and newsletters
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Preferred: B.A. degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
- Experience with Slack
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience using marketing tools like Canva, Sendible, and Mailchimp
