About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Shape and execute an integrated communications strategy for the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation
- Amplify work in digital government, data, benefits access, and emerging technology
- Transform complex and technical ideas into accessible, compelling, human-centered narratives
- Advance the Beeck Center’s mission and brand
- Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and impactful across the Center
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications and communications team
- Coordinate with the Development + Impact Communications Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications Associate, Student Analysts, contractors, and PR agency
- Represent the communications team in strategic and planning conversations across the organization
- Work through asynchronous communication and virtual or hybrid meetings using Slack, Asana, email, and Zoom
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in communications, journalism, public affairs, or a related field required (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail, voice, tone, and audience
- Content creation and project management experience
- Stakeholder engagement and media relations experience
- Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders and projects
- Proactive, highly organized, and able to work in fast-moving environments
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguity and manage multiple complex projects
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and AP Style
- Familiarity with Airtable, Asana, Slack, and Miro
- Familiarity with Mailchimp, WordPress, and Google Analytics / GA4
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, Bluesky, Sprout Social or Hootsuite, Meltwater, and Cision
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign), and Figma
- Ability to work in the Washington, D.C. area and average two days per week from Beeck Center offices
