About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage post-award financial operations for an assigned portfolio of sponsored projects
- Set up accounts and maintain budgets
- Handle billing, financial reporting, and award closeout
- Interpret federal, sponsor, and institutional regulations
- Provide grant compliance guidance to faculty and staff
- Contribute to special projects and process improvements
- Report directly to the Manager, Sponsored Projects Accounting and Reporting
- Work daily with Principal Investigators, Grant Managers, Department Administrators, the Office of Sponsored Projects, the Office of Research Services, federal agencies, other government organizations, and private sponsors
- Ensure accurate invoicing, collections, reports, invoices, and other financial transactions to support revenue recognition and cash position
- Help prevent audit findings, repayment of funds, fines, interest, and other compliance impacts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 1 year of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or sponsored research administration
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles, ledger reconciliation, and financial analysis
- Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to analyze, reconcile, and present complex financial data
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in computerized financial software
- Demonstrated understanding of research administration processes
- Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance [2 CFR 200] and predecessors OMB Circulars A-110, A-21, A-133, A-122
- Knowledge of FAR, PHS Guidelines, DS2 regulations, private agency guidelines, costing principles, and University procedures
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good mathematical and Excel skills
- Effective interpersonal, collaboration, and customer-service skills
