About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Schedule patient appointments by phone and electronic correspondence
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and external facilities
- Collect, verify, and communicate patient insurance benefit details
- Educate patients about insurance verification and estimated financial responsibility
- Confirm appointments and provide appointment details, locations, and special instructions
- Create and maintain patient records, demographics, and required paperwork
- Contact referring provider offices for records and visit preparation details
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and medical staff
- Respond to patient inquiries by phone and written communication
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party systems to support coordinated care
- Assist insurance verification associates when needed
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 6 months to 1 year of customer service, appointment scheduling, or healthcare experience required
- 6 months to 1 year of EHR system experience; EPIC preferred
- 6 months to 1 year of remote work experience preferred, especially in high-volume inbound and outbound call environments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and other computer systems
- Strong customer service mindset with compassion and professionalism
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record maintenance
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and effective time management
- Adaptable and open to change
- Empathetic, patient-focused approach
- High-speed internet and secure HIPAA-compliant workspace required
- Must pass an internet speed test
