About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process solid materials, solidification of liquids and slurries
- Offload and load trucks using front-end loaders and backhoes
- Process containerized waste such as drums, pails, and totes by emptying, bulking, scraping, and cutting containers
- Maintain accurate and legible processing records for the assigned work area
- Operate a forklift to move materials within the facility and perform warehousing tasks
- Operate a floor sweeper for general housekeeping and cleaning
- Perform daily housekeeping, including container segregation and storage, snow removal, cleaning, and warehouse organization
- Attend and participate in safety meetings and tool talks
- Report safety incidents, equipment malfunctions, and substandard performance to the supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous knowledge of waste management operations is preferred
- Ability to perform labor-intensive duties; heavy lifting is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Previous equipment experience
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet, or noisy environmental conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team environment
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and electronically
- Valid work authorization in Canada is required
- Successful completion of a drug and alcohol test is required as a condition of employment
