About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with branch members and the management team to develop technical and leadership skills
- Support branch goals and objectives through operational activities
- Complete a 9-to-12-month rotational leadership program
- Ride along with drivers and shadow mechanics and dispatchers
- Learn route management, safety protocols, and fleet operations
- Analyze route data to optimize efficiency and reduce missed pickups
- Manage labor costs and handle customer escalations
- Supervise small teams and run daily safety briefings
- Own specific operational KPIs under General Manager mentorship
- Handle weather delays, truck breakdowns, and staffing shortages
- Graduate into a frontline leadership role such as Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager, with accountability for a team, budget, and book of business
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree preferred; any major is acceptable
- Equivalent life or military experience demonstrating a strong work ethic and leadership may substitute for the preferred degree
- Must be willing and able to relocate within the Midwest: Wisconsin, Illinois, or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
- Must have valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
- Must provide valid documentation confirming work eligibility before starting
- Willingness to learn the waste-hauling business from the ground up
- Strong work ethic
- Critical-thinking ability
- Ability to connect with people across dispatch, driving, and maintenance teams
- Ability to learn DOT and OSHA compliance regulations, safety standards, routing software, customer service, labor-cost management, and operational KPIs
