About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide specialized educational assistance under the general supervision of the Principal
  • Support classroom teachers with instructional activities, small-group work, and one-on-one student support
  • Assist students with technology, computer-based learning programs, assignments, projects, and grade-appropriate academic work
  • Reinforce lessons and support accommodations or modifications outlined in IEPs, 504 plans, or instructional support plans
  • Work with students on academics, social skills, and character education
  • Assist with lesson assessments and collect or document academic and behavioral data
  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, breaks, and non-classroom activities
  • Support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and school-wide behavior systems
  • Assist students with special needs, including physical, emotional, or behavioral challenges
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and welcoming educational environment
  • Complete assigned training, paperwork, and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information
  • Perform other duties assigned to support the school’s educational mission

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card required
  • Maturity and patience to support students academically and emotionally
  • Ability to identify and refer situations to the Principal as needed
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, and ability to monitor work quality
  • Ability to adapt to changes, manage competing student demands, and handle unexpected events
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, ability to follow instructions, respond to leadership direction, and accept feedback
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and bend, stoop, reach, and sit as needed
  • Ability to move quickly to respond to student needs
  • Willingness and ability to physically restrain a student when necessary for safety
