About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Expand GHGSat’s business within European and international government markets
- Identify, pursue, and deliver key government contracts aligned with GHGSat’s mission of providing high-resolution greenhouse gas monitoring from space
- Identify and qualify opportunities with space agencies, environmental regulators, defense organizations, and climate-focused government initiatives
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead qualification through discovery, pitches or demos, objection handling, negotiation, and contract closing
- Build and maintain relationships with contracting officers, policy leaders, and industry partners
- Anticipate government funding trends and position GHGSat as a preferred climate-monitoring partner
- Support customer programme delivery through account and project management
- Manage the lifecycle of RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, grants, and tenders from capture planning through submission
- Write and edit proposals communicating GHGSat’s technical capabilities, scientific expertise, and value proposition
- Ensure compliance with government procurement frameworks, including Canadian Space Agency, ESA, NASA, US DoD/DOE, and Environment and Climate Change Canada
- Coordinate technical, product, finance, and legal contributions to proposals
- Manage timelines, compliance checklists, and evaluation criteria for competitive submissions
- Liaise with government program managers and contracting officials during bid, negotiation, and award phases
- Support post-award contract management and compliance with legal and finance
- Record and track customer interactions and pipeline progress using digital tools
Requirements
What you’ll need- Mission-driven and passionate about climate action and space technology
- Exceptional persuasive writing ability with a focus on clarity, compliance, and impact
- Strategic relationship-builder with government stakeholders and partners
- Detail-oriented, organised, and comfortable working under tight proposal deadlines
- Resilient, adaptable, and energised by competing in high-stakes contracting environments
- Knowledge of European and international public procurement systems and compliance requirements
- Skilled at crafting competitive proposals that translate complex science/technology into accessible narratives
- Ability to position GHGSat ahead of solicitations and develop winning strategies
- Strong ability to align technical, financial, and legal inputs for integrated proposal submissions
- Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously with precision and urgency
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in business development, proposal management, or government contracting, preferably in aerospace, defense, or cleantech sectors
