About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and enhance features in the rules execution service
Consume EventBus document events, run the rule engine, and publish outcomes such as route-found and no-route-found
Implement rule types, specifications, and actions on the shared rules framework and Exchange extension libraries
Support EventBus-driven rules, MongoDB-backed rule definitions, event matching, and rule caching
Contribute to Intelligent Business Rules capabilities, including business-rule statistics and change-request persistence
Develop and maintain rule actions for document handling and integrations, shipping changes behind feature flags
Write JUnit 5 and Mockito tests
Contribute to monolith decoupling and Java version migrations
Design and implement scalable, secure, maintainable, flexible, reusable, and efficient software
Contribute to technical design, document work, and follow IT control policies
Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to resolve dependencies and deliver high-quality products
Identify, analyze, and resolve limited-scope issues independently or with senior guidance
Follow design, development, testing, and Agile best practices
Develop understanding of rules subsystems and interactions among EventBus, MongoDB, ConfigSvc, and Elasticsearch

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 2–3 years of software development experience
BS in Computer Science, or similar work experience
2+ years developing solutions with Java and J2EE technologies (Spring, Maven)
Working knowledge of cloud technologies
Experience with databases
Exposure to a rules engine and/or event-driven architecture
Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to learn emerging technologies
Understanding of design best practices, including performance and scalability
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
Able to work independently on well-defined tasks and collaboratively as part of a team
Experience delivering moderate-complexity features
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Exposure to AWS cloud services and event-driven systems
Developing skills in CI/CD pipelines and software design patterns
Exposure to Liquibase or other database migration tools
Experience with feature flags or configuration services
Interest in healthcare, supply chain, or EDI/B2B document exchange
