About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own Gifthealth's accounting policies and procedures and ensure consistent application of US GAAP
  • Lead annual audited financial statement preparation and manage compliance with debt covenants
  • Serve as primary management point of contact for external auditors
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, acquisitions, partnership arrangements, equity compensation, and new product or service launches
  • Design, maintain, and improve the internal controls environment, including controls for drug purchasing, inventory, and third-party payer billing and collections
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar at a strategic level
  • Hold the Controller accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial statements
  • Lead, develop, and scale the accounting organization, including hiring, performance management, and succession planning
  • Partner with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, and board/investor reporting
  • Oversee tax strategy coordination with external tax advisors
  • Evaluate and implement accounting system and process improvements, including ERP enhancements
  • Present financial results, risks, and technical accounting matters to the CFO, executive leadership, and ownership/board
  • Report to the CFO and collaborate with FP&A, Legal, Compliance, Pharmacy Operations, and executive leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience in a controllership or assistant controller role
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition, inventory, and lease accounting standards
  • Demonstrated experience managing external auditor and lender relationships, including audited financial statement delivery
  • Experience building and scaling accounting teams and processes in a high-growth, privately held company
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting concepts for non-accounting executives and ownership
  • Healthcare, pharmacy, PBM, insurance, or other regulated industry experience strongly preferred
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm) is a plus
  • Must be able to sit or work at a computer for extended periods
  • Must be able to travel as needed for audit, lender, or leadership meetings
