About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Report to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications
- Lead creative development and implementation of GSGLA marketing, communications, and signature event efforts
- Position GSGLA as the preeminent organization for girls and young women in grades K-12
- Develop brand and data-driven stories and consumer campaigns
- Drive brand development and storytelling across platforms
- Train executive leadership, senior management, staff, and members to represent the Girl Scouts Movement
- Develop, manage, and execute an annual strategic communications plan across traditional, broadcast, and digital media
- Evaluate communication strategies and implement improvements
- Provide innovation and competitive insight across communication and branding vehicles
- Develop and maintain council messaging and implement national campaigns into local campaigns, communications, and culture
- Write content for all communication channels, including press releases and media kits
- Oversee audits and analysis of communication efforts and ensure use of the brand voice
- Oversee print, offline, online, website, microsite, social media, email, and SMS communication vehicles
- Manage the Manager, Marketing & Communications, Marketing Associate, other MarComm team members, vendors, and agencies
- Oversee signature in-person and virtual events, design/photo/video, copywriting, lead-generation advertising campaigns, and job performance standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field
- 7-10 years of demonstrated progressive experience in public relations, communications, and/or marketing
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.), and Smartsheet/project management software
- Knowledge of Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics (or similar applications), SMS applications, lead-gen and other ad campaigns
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including AEM
- Excellent business acumen and broad experience/understanding of all facets of marketing and communication
- Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to lead others in a goal and action-oriented manner
- Excellent organization and project management skills
- Outstanding editing, proofreading, and written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to relationship-building
- Results-oriented and passionate about creativity
- Dedication to customer service and understanding/experience in a volunteer environment
- Effective decision-making with a high level of personal integrity and professionalism
- Non-profit experience; Girl Scout organization experience is a plus
- Valid California driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, and ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across a large geographical area
- Must comply with state-mandated reporter training
- Must attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned
- Must successfully complete a Live Scan and background check
- Must be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically
