About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create and implement GSGLA marketing and communications efforts
  • Manage internal and external communications, marketing communications, event support, and content/asset creation for web properties and social media
  • Develop consistent and cohesive messaging and materials across departments aligned with the GSUSA brand voice
  • Position GSGLA as the leading organization for girls and young women in grades K–12
  • Cultivate relationships with industry professionals and vendors
  • Develop brand stories, data-driven stories, and consumer campaigns
  • Drive brand development and storytelling across channels
  • Develop and execute annual strategic marketing and communications plans across traditional, digital, and broadcast media
  • Evaluate strategy performance and implement improvements
  • Provide innovation and competitive insight across communication channels
  • Write content and collateral for marketing, communications, and events
  • Develop messaging and assets for print and traditional marketing vehicles
  • Oversee digital marketing, communications, and event vehicles, including social media, Canva, Canto, websites, email publications, and in-house video/photo production
  • Support creation of written materials, presentations, and graphic/digital design for in-person, digital, and hybrid events
  • Develop and lead the Girls Exploring Media (GEM) program for 50 Girl Scouts, including recruitment, budgeting, event execution, speaker recruitment, and coordination
  • Manage photographers, designers, videographers/editors, and event personnel
  • Report to the Sr. Manager of Marketing and Communications and support senior marketing leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated, progressive experience in marketing, advertising, digital communications, graphic design, writing and communications
  • High proficiency in social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficiency in Adobe Experience Manager (or similar), HTML, and web development/maintenance
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MailChimp, Google Analytics (or similar applications) a plus
  • Excellent editing, proofreading, copywriting, and written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
  • Demonstrated competency in leading others in a goal- and action-oriented manner
  • Completion of GSGLA mandatory supervisor training curriculum
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to relationship-building
  • Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events
  • Dedication to customer service and experience in a volunteer environment
  • Effective decision-making with personal integrity and professionalism
  • Nonprofit experience; Girl Scout organization experience a plus
  • Valid California driver's license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, and ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must comply with state-mandated reporter training
  • Must attend GSGLA signature events and/or other assigned activities
