About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create and deliver Girl Scout programs for assigned troops/groups and girls in identified underserved areas
  • Serve as a role model and mentor while providing age-appropriate in-school, after-school, and summer programs for girls in grades K–12
  • Act as Troop Leader at sites without adult volunteers and deliver Girl Scout curricula and activities
  • Collaborate with the Community Manager and volunteers to create and implement recruitment events for girls and adults
  • Organize and execute beginning- and end-of-year ceremonies
  • Assist with planning enrichment and encampment trips with Service Unit volunteers
  • Maintain positive written and verbal communication with staff, volunteers, parents, and interested parties
  • Conduct parent meetings and secure family interests
  • Ensure girls and volunteers are registered with GSUSA and collect required registration documentation
  • Recruit, register, and support adult volunteers
  • Establish respectful site relationships through proactive communication and effective program setup and cleanup
  • Implement pre- and post-surveys to measure program quality
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative information for funders
  • Support council operations through compliance, communication, and stakeholder relationships
  • Contribute to membership growth and girl development through core Girl Scout activities and program outcomes
  • Participate in volunteer and parent-helper training and coaching
  • Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned
  • Adapt assignments, priorities, and schedules to support the Girl Scout mission

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Apply your coursework or experience in youth development
  • Ability to perform work exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or 20 lbs of force frequently and 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects
  • Motivated by the Girl Scout mission
  • Confidence and proficiency using Microsoft Office products
  • Engaging communication style, verbal and written
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred; Spanish-speaking ability would be great
  • Reliable transportation along with documentation of required automobile insurance and safe driving record
  • Ability to utilize basic office equipment including computers and phones, with or without accommodation
  • Ability to interact with others virtually and in-person in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings
  • Ability to lift, carry and display recruitment and program materials to multiple sites
  • If working from home, private, quiet workspace with high-speed/stable internet connection
  • Available to work Monday through Friday during the school year and summer months, occasional weekends, and schedules extending until around 6:00 p.m.
  • Must comply with Girl Scout policies, protocols, Volunteer Essentials, Safety Activity Checkpoints, and GSWCF practices
