About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary point of contact and escalation resource for employee relations matters
- Assess concerns, determine response strategies, and facilitate timely resolution
- Plan and conduct impartial investigations into employee complaints and workplace concerns
- Investigate misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, protected activity, policy violations, and other workplace concerns
- Own and govern employee relations processes from intake through resolution
- Analyze case data, identify recurring themes and root causes, monitor metrics, and present recommendations
- Develop and maintain employee relations policies, procedures, investigation standards, templates, decision guides, and leader resources
- Deliver training and coaching on documentation, workplace conduct, retaliation prevention, and policy application
- Partner with HR Consulting, Legal, Leave and Accommodation partners, and other stakeholders on complex matters
- Maintain confidential records, access controls, and legally privileged communications when applicable
- Facilitate conflict resolution and respond to sensitive employee situations according to escalation and safety protocols
- Advise leaders on policies, workplace issues, employee relations strategy, and employment-law compliance
- Guide leaders on performance management, disciplinary action, performance improvement plans, and involuntary separations
- Prepare termination meetings, documentation, termination letters, files, emails, forms, and offboarding tasks
- Process unemployment claims and participate in contested unemployment claim hearings
- Prepare responses to EEOC and other government-agency charges or inquiries with employment counsel
- Foster open and transparent organizational communication
- Lead or serve as subject-matter expert for enterprise projects and process improvements
- Identify compliance gaps, recommend improvements, lead implementation, and evaluate effectiveness
- Perform additional assignments as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, including independently managing complex employee relations investigations, corrective action, performance management, and termination matters
- Experience owning an employee relations process or program, advising senior leaders, evaluating risk, and making independent recommendations
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required
- Internal candidates may be considered with four (4) years of total GLS experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Internal candidates may be considered with an associate’s degree in a relevant field plus two (2) years of GLS experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- SHRM-SCP/CP or SPHR/PHR preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
- Ability to take initiative, make recommendations, implement improvements, and evaluate effectiveness
- Exceptional interpersonal, conflict-management, judgment, confidentiality, and influencing skills
- Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and standard business applications
- Ability to quickly learn new computer applications
- Ability to organize resources, establish priorities, and drive results
- Ability to work at a desk/in a seated position up to 100% of the workday
- Ability to constantly operate a computer and standard office equipment
- Ability to talk and hear to exchange accurate information
- Close visual acuity for data analysis, computer work, and extensive reading
- Full-time position; no travel required
