About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage and oversee earned media strategy and execution within overarching account strategies
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure work is on strategy, on time, on budget and aligned with client expectations
Serve as primary account point of contact for clients and partner agencies
Build relationships with media partners to secure quality placements, visibility and client reputation
Review and author media releases, talking points and other media deliverables
Prepare and manage on-the-ground media support for events and tradeshows
Take accountability for strategic recommendations, deliverables and account outcomes
Guide account teams through changes in direction and strategically reframe or pivot recommendations
Author and present account and project media strategies to clients
Review client-ready earned media deliverables and provide actionable feedback
Approve billing and project invoices
Manage account financial health, including invoicing, budgeting, forecasting, investing, write-offs and staffing
Maintain macro-industry knowledge for strategic consultation
Maintain client satisfaction and confidence in Global Prairie’s support
Grow a portfolio of multiple client accounts through organic growth and new business identification
Identify opportunities for organic growth using advanced media relations and technology knowledge
Drive net new business efforts as requested
Fulfill Manager responsibilities as staffing needs arise and seek appropriate delegation solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of experience
Prior roles in public relations, media relations, marketing, communications, consulting or a related field
Existing relationships with key players in agriculture-focused media is a huge plus
Experience and knowledge in agriculture and/or life science sectors
Willingness and eagerness to learn new industries
Depth of experience in media relations and earned media planning/strategy
Willingness and availability to travel
Understanding of the agriculture and/or life science media landscape
Strong relationship building with internal and external partners
Delivery of strong and measurable results for earned media campaigns

Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, reaching, stooping, talking, hearing and repetitive motion
