About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider
- Manage check-in and registration, including paperwork, insurance documentation, verification, co-pay processing, and appointment scheduling
- Interview patients, record medical histories, confirm visit purpose, and measure vital signs
- Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as needed
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examinations
- Coordinate provider referrals and communicate patient information and status
- Conduct point-of-care testing including flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG
- Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception areas
- Maintain supply inventory, check expiration dates, and complete order sheets
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
- Answer phone calls and manage incoming and outgoing postal correspondence
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building
- Operate, document, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment; maintain quality assurance and quality control logs and submit repair tickets
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
- Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred
- Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Front Desk experience preferred
- Ability to type quickly and basic computer knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail oriented, able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate on a team, and accomplish goals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Able to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social difference
