About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider
- Manage check-in and registration processes
- Interview patients and measure vital signs
- Record patient information on charts
- Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as required
- Prepare treatment rooms for examinations
- Conduct patient registration, secure paperwork and insurance documentation, and verify insurance and eligibility
- Process co-pays and schedule appointments
- Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
- Answer patient care questions and provide status updates
- Inform technical staff of patient flow
- Prepare patients for examination and record medical history and visit purpose
- Perform preliminary physical tests and escalate critical cases to providers
- Conduct point-of-care testing and provide information to providers
- Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area
- Maintain supply inventory, check expiration dates, and complete order sheets
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
- Answer phones and sort incoming and outgoing postal correspondence
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building
- Operate, document, calibrate, and maintain equipment; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
- Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Front Desk experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- Basic Medical Assistant duties
- Ability to type quickly and basic computer knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail oriented and able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate on a team, and accomplish goals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Able to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social differences
