About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide support to Medical Providers, Radiologic Technologists, and patients through patient care management, organization, and communication
- Conduct patient registration, secure paperwork and insurance documentation, and verify insurance and eligibility
- Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
- Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
- Answer patient care questions and provide status updates
- Inform technical staff of patient flow
- Prepare patients for examinations, conduct interviews, record medical history, and confirm visit purpose
- Perform preliminary physical tests and vital-sign measurements; escalate critical cases to providers
- Conduct point-of-care testing including flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG tests
- Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception areas
- Complete order sheets, monitor inventory levels and expiration dates
- Maintain medical records and scan charts into patient files
- Answer phone calls and manage incoming and outgoing postal correspondence
- Conduct courtesy follow-up calls
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building
- Perform and document equipment controls and calibration, maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program preferred
- 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience under a licensed healthcare supervisor within the last 3 years preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant experience preferred for Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
- 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience within the last 3 years under a licensed healthcare supervisor in lieu of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- One of the listed Medical Assistant certifications, nursing-school graduation/LPN/LVN/RN, EMT certification, or CNA certification required at the time of hire
- Washington State Medical Assistants must hold the specified Certified MA and WA certificate or Registered MA credentials
- California State Medical Assistants must meet the specified Medical Assistant school/certification or internal training requirements
