About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication
- Apply x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients of all age groups
- Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers
- Provide administrative support for efficient operation of urgent care centers
- Perform x-ray services as needed under the direction of clinical providers
- Position patients correctly and protect them during equipment use
- Conduct patient interviews, verify information, record medical history, and confirm visit purpose
- Perform preliminary physical tests and vital signs, escalating critical cases to providers
- Conduct point-of-care testing such as flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG tests
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
- Perform and document daily equipment controls and calibration; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
- Explain procedures, ensure patient comfort and safety, and answer questions
- Select radiographic factors and adjust controls to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Follow radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles
- Verify image quality and send images to radiologists for interpretation
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at the time of hire, if applicable by state law
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement
- Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards common to radiology
- Ability to position patients properly for X-ray procedures
- Ability to identify equipment problems and correct them or notify a supervisor
- Ability to follow infection control and radiological safety procedures
