About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with providers and medical assistants on patient care, organization, and communication
  • Provide imaging services using X-ray technology for patients of all ages
  • Perform Medical Assistant duties under a provider after training
  • Perform X-ray services under clinical provider direction to assist diagnosis or treatment
  • Position patients and equipment correctly and protect patients during imaging
  • Prepare patients for examinations, verify information, record medical history, and confirm visit purpose
  • Perform preliminary physical tests and escalate critical cases to providers
  • Conduct point-of-care testing, including flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG testing
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
  • Perform and document daily equipment controls and calibration; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
  • Explain procedures, ensure patient comfort and safety, and answer questions
  • Select radiographic controls to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Clean and maintain X-ray equipment and manage supplies
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles
  • Maintain accurate records and log completed procedures
  • Verify image quality and send images to radiologists for interpretation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma required
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at the time of hire, if applicable by state law
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and common safety hazards
  • Ability to position patients properly for X-ray procedures
  • Ability to identify equipment problems and correct them or notify a supervisor
  • Ability to follow infection control and radiological safety procedures
