About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and adjustments for monthly, quarterly, and annual close in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and international subsidiaries, researching and resolving variances
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, donor invoicing, cash application, and collections follow-up
  • Record and reconcile international subsidiary activity, including multi-currency transactions and intercompany balances
  • Record inventory and manufacturing transactions, and maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
  • Prepare schedules, account analyses, and supporting documentation for year-end audit, tax filings, and management reporting
  • Identify issues and recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls; document procedures
  • Support GivePower finance operations in Colombia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Haiti
  • Report to the Controller

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA candidate a plus
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting, nonprofit, manufacturing, or international settings
  • Strong technical accounting foundation, including solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and double-entry accounting
  • Clear understanding of how the balance sheet and income statement interact, and how individual transactions flow through the financial statements
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines
  • Sound judgment and willingness to ask questions and escalate issues appropriately
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and collaborating across time zones
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with global teams, vendors, and donors
