About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the continued evolution of how paralegal services are designed, delivered, and managed across Goodwin
  • Design differentiated paralegal service delivery models for litigation, transactional, and individual practices
  • Partner with practice leaders, attorneys, associates, and Global Operations Team leaders to translate needs into scalable solutions
  • Establish roles, handoffs, service expectations, quality standards, and accountability across delivery models
  • Own the full talent lifecycle and drive career paths, advancement opportunities, skill development, coaching, and performance management
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the paralegal function
  • Lead initiatives improving service delivery, efficiency, quality, and scalability
  • Lead adoption of enabling technologies, including generative AI and workflow automation
  • Establish and monitor metrics for demand, capacity, utilization, quality, responsiveness, and attorney satisfaction
  • Deploy resources according to practice and geographic needs
  • Provide executive oversight of day-to-day paralegal operations
  • Serve as senior escalation point for significant staffing, performance, and service issues
  • Oversee the case assistant team and evolve its services
  • Build relationships with partners, practice leaders, associates, paralegals, and Global Operations Team leaders
  • Communicate changes, address adoption barriers, and create feedback channels to improve services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hold a bachelor's degree; advanced degree is a plus but not required
  • Significant progressive leadership experience in a large law firm setting, with preference for AmLaw 100 experience
  • Experience transforming a legal function, including designing and implementing new operating models
  • Experience managing the full talent lifecycle
  • Strong familiarity with legal industry trends, legal technology, and the evolving role of non-attorney timekeepers
  • Ability to build relationships and navigate complex stakeholder dynamics in a professional services environment
  • Strong operational and people leadership skills
  • Knowledge of legal workflows and legal service delivery models
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data and feedback to improve performance
  • Experience with technology, including AI and automation
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, and ability to lead change through sustained adoption
