About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, maintain, advocate for, and ensure compliance with security architecture, DevSecOps frameworks, and policy instruments
- Provide security architecture subject matter expertise across secure application development, business, data, application, and technology architecture
- Consult, evaluate, and deliver digital service products throughout the solution development life cycle for cybersecurity policy conformance
- Formulate options and recommendations
- Conduct security reviews and advise on secure coding, secrets management, on-premises, AWS, Azure, GCP, and third-party hosted solutions
- Produce verbal and written security reports
- Provide security advice to business and technical stakeholders, including senior executives
- Participate in projects as an information security subject matter expert focused on security architecture and DevSecOps security capabilities
- Identify information security requirements and develop organization-wide strategies and solutions
- Facilitate or perform identification, assessment, and treatment of information and technology security threats and risks
- Document risks and treatment plans in the Government of Alberta Information Technology Security Risk Register
- Communicate cyber threat information to stakeholders
- Conduct cyber threat or cybersecurity controls research
- Assist with cybersecurity incident response as required
- Lead security initiatives, projects, or teams and drive information security outcomes
- Use AI tools to automate insights, personalize stakeholder engagement, create materials, and develop and track KPIs
- Participate in a written practical exercise if required
- Participate in on-call rotation and overtime depending on the project
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 4 years of related experience in secure solution delivery life cycle
- Experience in secure application development
- Experience securing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Experience with DevSecOps, testing, and security architecture
- Alternative: related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and minimum 6 years of related experience
- Alternative: related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and minimum 7 years of related experience
- Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, or GPEN, or equivalent, or working toward certification is expected
- Solution architecture experience
- Enterprise architecture experience and/or certification
- Experience with AI-powered cybersecurity tools and techniques
- Ability to lead and remain calm in times of crisis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for executive briefings and technical discussions
- Ability to collaborate effectively and secure alignment across multiple stakeholders
- Curiosity to investigate root cause and identify options and recommendations
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for complex environments
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing AI to address complex problems and automate analysis of extensive datasets
- Must reside in Alberta to work remotely
- Final candidates must undergo enhanced security screening
- Must provide education and work experience dates in the resume
- Candidates with post-secondary studies outside Canada are recommended to obtain a Canadian credential evaluation
