About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise, mentor, and support seasonal Park Rangers and volunteers through work planning, training, coaching, and performance management
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives
  • Deliver compliance and education programs concerning park legislation, regulations, public safety, and responsible outdoor recreation
  • Respond to visitor inquiries, public complaints, and complex situations
  • Conduct field patrols and inspections in campgrounds, day-use areas, trails, and backcountry locations
  • Support protection and management of natural and cultural resources
  • Identify and address operational issues, visitor concerns, and emerging risks
  • Coordinate and support public safety programs, emergency response, warnings, closures, and incident management
  • Build and maintain relationships with visitors, Indigenous communities, volunteers, permit holders, facility operators, partner organizations, and stakeholders
  • Monitor activities under permits and agreements for compliance
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, complete administrative processes, and contribute to operational planning
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Travel regularly throughout assigned park areas and work in outdoor, remote, and backcountry environments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Related two-year diploma in Natural Resources, Natural or Environmental Sciences, Recreation Management, Tourism Development, Criminal Justice, or another related field
  • 3 years of related experience in park operations, visitor management, compliance monitoring, natural resources, or outdoor recreation
  • Directly related education or experience equivalency accepted at 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Supervisor experience
  • Current Standard First Aid certification including CPR-C and AED
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned park regions
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote locations
  • Ability to travel by foot, bicycle, motor vehicle, or off-highway vehicle
  • Final candidates may be required to pass a security screening
