About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own technical projects from problem framing through rollout, including collecting user feedback and measuring outcomes
Collaborate with Product Management, Product Design, and backend engineers to build intuitive user experiences
Build clean, reusable frontend components and contribute to supporting APIs and backend functionality
Mentor and collaborate with engineers through code review, design feedback, pairing, and technical writing
Participate in on-call, incident response, and incident learning
Provide technical support during customer escalations and identify areas of friction
Collaborate with other squads on shared dependencies and design proposals
Share team work through demos and technical discussions
Build frontend experiences that make complex database telemetry easy to explore and understand
Contribute to open-source communities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong frontend engineering experience with experience across the stack
Experience building and maintaining production web applications with React and TypeScript
Comfortable contributing to backend services and APIs
Maintainability, readability, automated testing, and secure development practices
Experience delivering complex projects
Experience mentoring other engineers
Clear communication in a fully remote, asynchronous environment
Experience being on-call, supporting software in production, ensuring reliability, and responding to incidents
Ability to tackle complex engineering problems with minimal supervision
Thoughtful use and validation of AI coding tools
Interest in contributing to the Grafana Community
Open-source contribution or maintainership is a bonus
Interest in observability tools is a bonus
Experience with databases, SQL, or database performance monitoring is a bonus
Experience building backend services in Go is a bonus
Experience using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or Tempo is a bonus
Experience in a fully remote, globally distributed team is a bonus
