About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Advise on and support strategic deals and customer engagements
Collaborate with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects on complex technical challenges
Serve as a company-recognized SME in a Grafana Platform area
Build reference architectures and overcome competitive objections
Craft and deliver value-based stories to help sales teams close deals
Create and curate technical training content, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts
Establish a repeatable content review cadence with Enablement and Product Management
Architect, engineer, and maintain live production environments for demos, workshops, and POV infrastructure
Influence product direction and represent Field Engineering in product planning
Present at strategic marketing events, webinars, conferences, and blogs
Provide technical guidance and present best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and customers
Improve product documentation and contribute white papers and blogs
Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers and Field Engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 8+ years of related technical experience, including 2+ years in a Senior Field Engineer role or equivalent
Experience as an SRE, Developer, Architect and/or successful presales Solution Architect
Excellent understanding of Grafana and associated technologies
Recognized SME depth in at least one area of the Grafana Platform
Deep working knowledge across observability technologies including Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog
Expert-level knowledge in at least one adjacent domain such as IoT or AI/ML
Experience creating and maintaining product training assets adopted by the technical field organization
Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering on enablement content and roadmap priorities
Familiarity with at least one modern programming language
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, debugging, and investigation
Working familiarity with Linux and common tools
Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code
Ability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, and Microservices
Track record delivering strategic technical content for technical audiences
Deep understanding of the sales process and complex strategic sales cycles
