About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies
- Research and analyze financial statements and audit- and tax-related issues using electronic databases
- Employ audit software to review and compile financial information
- Oversee and manage audit engagements for a diverse range of clients
- Oversee completion of on-budget financial statement audits
- Manage audit project budgets and timelines in compliance with regulatory standards and client objectives
- Oversee and support multiple engagement teams concurrently
- Communicate with clients about engagement and service expectations and resolve technical and service issues
- Ensure timely, on-budget delivery of engagement letters, audit planning reports, audit concluding reports, and business improvement recommendations
- Set audit project schedules according to client needs and firm capabilities
- Manage firm risk on audits and proposals
- Train less experienced colleagues and provide consistent feedback
- Act as a business advisor and collaborate on proposals and business development activities
- Lead cross-functional, cross-departmental, and global collaboration
- Communicate organizational strategy and influence senior stakeholders
- Oversee application of Grant Thornton’s audit methodology, firm policies, PCAOB, AICPA, and other relevant audit standards
- Resolve complex issues related to auditing standards and advise clients on impacts to audit scope
- Oversee assessment of clients’ internal accounting environments and controls
- Perform internal reviews of client issues, transactions, and events affecting audit risks
- Develop audit approaches and identify appropriate internal and external resources
- Guide teams in executing audit responses
- Review audit results to provide key client insights
- Direct teams to provide accurate, high-quality documentation
- Supervise 2–6 Audit Interns, Associates, and Senior Associates
Requirements
What you’ll need- Three or Four Year Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Commerce, or related field, or the foreign degree equivalent
- 8 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or any audit-related job titles
- Experience planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing audits in compliance with IFRS, GAAS, US GAAP, and PCAOB requirements
- Experience leading multiple teams across multiple clients, allocating work to staff, and managing audit engagements to budget
- Experience conducting reviews and evaluations of clients' business processes and planning audit engagements
- Experience managing audit engagements for publicly traded and private companies
- Experience preparing and participating in audit proposals
- Experience reviewing consolidated financial statements in conformity with accounting principles
- Experience with DEA data interrogation audit software and audit software
- Experience building and maintaining client relationships, understanding client business models, and providing value-added insights and recommendations
- Experience assessing accounting areas including revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments, equity, and business combinations
- CPA License (U.S. or other jurisdiction), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) required
- Applicants must reside within a commutable distance to a Grant Thornton office in the United States
