About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply and extend enterprise data governance frameworks to acquired-company integration
- Embed governance requirements into migration, integration, modernization, archival, reporting, and analytics enablement activities
- Establish a full data-estate view for each acquisition, covering structured and unstructured content
- Catalog acquired-company content by category, sensitivity, ownership, business purpose, and disposition
- Advise technology teams on migration, archival, preservation, and disposal decisions
- Assess content for regulated, privileged, personal, and client-confidential material and define handling requirements
- Identify accountable data owners and obtain documented approval for new or materially changed data use
- Manage external sharing and third-party access approval paths
- Classify data against retention requirements, establish retention periods and triggers, and coordinate defensible disposal
- Confirm and track legal and business holds
- Account for jurisdictional privacy, data residency, and statutory retention differences
- Define data quality rules, profiling, remediation, reconciliation, and quality gates
- Standardize definitions, formats, critical data elements, metadata, lineage, and ownership expectations
- Maintain data catalogs and business glossaries
- Support data consumers and manage stewardship activities
- Support adoption and rollout of governance technologies and work with IT, platforms, and vendors
- Operationalize privacy, security, classification, access, masking, retention, and disposal controls
- Monitor governance performance and produce executive-ready dashboards and reports
- Facilitate cross-functional governance sessions and support source-to-target mapping, lineage, reconciliation, issue resolution, and integration readiness
- Improve governance processes, quality controls, stewardship, metadata, automation, reporting, and delivery repeatability
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of experience in data governance, data transformation, data management, data quality, data integration, records and information management, data privacy and compliance, analytics, or related enterprise technology roles
- Demonstrated experience applying data governance principles to data migration, integration, modernization, archival, analytics, or large-scale transformation programs
- Experience governing unstructured and semi-structured content alongside structured data, including mail, file storage, collaboration platforms, and service management records
- Working knowledge of records retention practice, including retention scheduling, record category definitions, retention triggers, and defensible disposal
- Familiarity with legal hold and preservation obligations
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data ownership, data stewardship, critical data elements, data quality management, metadata, lineage, catalog and glossary practice, retention, and governed data delivery
- Experience defining and managing data quality rules, profiling activities, remediation plans, reconciliation processes, issue tracking, and readiness metrics
- Familiarity with data governance technologies such as data catalogs, metadata management platforms, lineage tools, MDM platforms, data quality tools, workflow tools, or data issue management capabilities
- Working knowledge of data protection and compliance requirements, including privacy, classification, access management, masking, retention, and internal policy controls
- Familiarity with retention and documentation requirements arising from professional standards in an audit, tax, or advisory environment, or comparable regulated setting
- Ability to partner with business leaders and drive alignment across business and technology teams
- Strong project management, change management, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, communication, and executive reporting skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
- Relevant data governance, privacy, records management, security, project management, or cloud and data certifications preferred
- Preferred experience in professional services, consulting, accounting, or complex global enterprise environments
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Snowflake, Power BI, ServiceNow, or comparable technologies
- Preferred experience with enterprise-scale retention, classification, eDiscovery, archival, legacy system decommissioning, governance playbooks, stewardship models, scorecards, dashboards, vendors, and cross-border data handling
