Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of claims professionals, including claims managers
  • Provide strategic oversight while remaining hands-on with complex, high-impact claims matters
  • Plan, develop, direct, and administer strategic Claims programs
  • Provide specialized insights to business leaders to implement strategies supporting business goals and organizational performance
  • Oversee claims investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages
  • Advise team members on complex claim file management
  • Extend settlement authority following comprehensive reviews
  • Maintain enterprise relationships and foster continuous learning, accountability, and outstanding service
  • Manage team performance, coaching, professional development, talent selection, and performance management
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices to improve efficiency and service quality
  • Ensure new team members receive proper training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling
  • Strong preference for casualty claims experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience
  • Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Typically manages 3 or more direct reports, including managing supervisors/managers
  • Experience implementing policies, procedures, and strategies under management direction
  • Experience leading and mentoring claims professionals
  • Knowledge of insurance policy and claims handling procedures
  • Experience identifying process improvements and implementing best practices
  • Experience with staff performance coaching, talent selection, development, and performance management
  • Ability to ensure new team members receive proper training
