About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate applicable reinsurance coverages across property, casualty, excess/umbrella, specialty lines, workers’ compensation, asbestos, and pollution coverages
- Maintain a claims diary for reporting, updating, and billing losses to reinsurers according to reinsurance contracts
- Respond to reinsurer information requests and claims technical inquiries
- Produce net exposure calculations based on reinsurance structures
- Record ceded reinsurance claim cessions accurately and timely
- Document and maintain records for claim follow-up
- Assist the reinsurance accounting team with reinsurance collections
- Facilitate reinsurer claim reviews
- Participate in reinsurance and team projects
- Provide guidance and assistance to other functional areas
- Follow applicable company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 1–3 years of reinsurance claims experience
- Some knowledge of direct claim handling and/or reinsurance preferred
- Basic understanding of insurance policies, coverage, and claim issues for property, casualty, and specialty lines of business
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, specifically Excel
- Professional writing and oral communication skills
- Willingness and ability to cross-train in and understand multiple lines of business
- Ability to manage and prioritize concurrent assignments and responsibilities
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Ability to work on-site four days a week and remotely one day a week
