About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Understand and analyze business reports needed in underwriting processes, including credit checks, bank agreements, and financial statements
  • Manage risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability for the branch office
  • Assess risk quality in compliance with company guidelines
  • Review others’ underwriting and recommend extensions of surety credit, including terms and conditions
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively and deliver exceptional customer service
  • Make timely, informed decisions
  • Operate with integrity and honesty

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Generally, 5+ years of related experience
  • Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred
  • Appropriate certifications could include Associate in Surety and Fidelity Bonding (AFSB), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and/or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
  • Must be highly organized
  • Ability to use independent judgment and initiative
  • Ability to coach and develop team
