About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review, negotiate, and provide counsel on confidentiality, reinsurance, and other corporate contracts
  • Counsel business and corporate services operations on regulatory matters associated with transactions and corporate initiatives
  • Develop relationships throughout the Company to tailor legal advice to specialty insurance divisions
  • Collaborate with Legal team members to achieve optimal results for business clients
  • Engage in issue spotting, risk assessment, and daily problem solving
  • Partner with business support groups to educate business clients on corporate and contractual issues
  • Monitor legal and regulatory issues and assess trends and emerging risks
  • Handle other matters within P&C Legal as needed
  • Provide legal advice and counsel supporting business units and shared services groups, with focus on reinsurance, corporate, and strategic matters

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law
  • 1–5 years’ experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Common sense, good judgment, and solution-oriented attitude toward legal issues
  • Ability to solve problems and provide practical, risk-based advice
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Experience with corporate transactions preferred but not required
  • Experience working in a regulated industry preferred but not required
