About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary analytical resource for K–12 policy trends
  • Frame issues independently and synthesize intelligence across federal, state, and local levels
  • Contribute to Great Minds’ company-wide perspective on adoption and implementation of high-quality instructional materials
  • Track and monitor state and local legislation and policy
  • Identify and escalate emerging policy trends with analytical context and recommended implications
  • Lead projects examining how legislative mandates shape policy action at local, regional, and state levels
  • Develop rigorous, accessible findings connected to Great Minds’ strategic priorities
  • Translate regional trend analysis into recommendations for policy engagement strategy
  • Produce briefings, frameworks, and recommendations for internal stakeholders
  • Represent Great Minds at policy conferences and sector events
  • Report to the Director of Policy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of experience in K–12 policy, applied research, or a closely related discipline
  • Track record of owning and advancing substantive policy work
  • Ability to independently drive research projects from problem framing through strategic recommendation
  • Strong judgment about when to escalate and how to prioritize
  • Sophisticated command of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Ability to synthesize complex findings into accessible, compelling narratives for varied audiences
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder demands
  • Familiarity with state and local policy development processes, including legislative tracking and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience converting a complex policy landscape into clear strategic priorities and actionable plans
  • Bachelor’s degree
