About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collect, analyze, investigate, and report financial data
  • Perform simple to moderately complex financial and operational analysis
  • Support short-term and long-range strategic plans, forecasting, and operating budgets
  • Support leadership with replication and expansion campuses in Great Hearts Louisiana
  • Update and maintain financial models
  • Create and maintain short- and long-term forecasts, including cash flows for multiple campuses
  • Partner with Academy and CMO staff in the annual budget development process
  • Interface with Academy leadership monthly to review and analyze financial statements
  • Support Academy and CMO leadership with monitoring expansion projects and associated costs
  • Coordinate with Accounting to ensure financial report accuracy
  • Coordinate with Grant Accounting Teams to align grant compliance with budgeted grant allocations and state and federal reporting requirements
  • Support development of grant program procedures
  • Prepare internal and external financial reports, including quarterly board reports and state reporting
  • Support the annual audit process
  • Assist with compliance monitoring through identification and documentation of policies and procedures, including needed revisions
  • Identify and communicate internal control issues
  • Support the launch of the Lake Charles campus, expansion of the Harveston campus in Baton Rouge, and opening of a third campus by the end of the grant period
  • Travel locally to various academies and potentially for training and professional development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field at minimum
  • 4-6+ years of accounting or finance work experience preferred
  • Experience in education preferred
  • Commitment to the philosophy and mission of Great Hearts
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate
  • Experience with Workday and Workday Adaptive or other financial systems
  • Ability to create and use financial models for evaluation and decision-making
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members, Headmasters, and Home Office department leadership
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card or Louisiana and any new region equivalent
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements
  • Ability to travel locally to various academies and for training and professional development opportunities
  • Ability to perform required physical functions, including standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching; may move or position equipment up to approximately 15 pounds
