About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide organizational and practice-specific support to attorneys in the Immigration Department
  • Prepare petitions and applications for PERM, I-140, CP, AOS, Naturalization, H-1B, L, E-1/2, TN, O-1, J, and EB-5 matters
  • Prepare responses to complex requests for evidence
  • Maintain oversight of individual caseloads and ensure timely completion of work
  • Research law and procedures and track immigration law updates
  • Manage administrative duties and maintain the case management database
  • Direct client contact through phone calls, emails, and postal correspondence
  • Create and maintain reports as needed
  • Contact USCIS and U.S. consulates/embassies and schedule visa appointment interviews
  • Assist with client intakes and prepare client mailings and submissions to immigration offices
  • Liaise with DOL, USCIS, and NVC to troubleshoot issues
  • Assist with other department activities and perform additional assigned duties
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Report to the Practice Group Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal certification or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years business immigration experience within a law firm
  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within the Immigration practice area
  • Experience in preparing immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Professional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel
  • Proactive self-starter with attention to broader context
  • High attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with immigration case management systems, specifically INSZoom
  • Exceptional computer skills and ability to learn new software applications quickly
  • Understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible use in a professional environment
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, firm-approved AI tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including prolonged sitting, manual dexterity, filing, bending, standing, and lifting files
