About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and new business opportunities
  • Prospect, identify, pursue, and secure new customers throughout the assigned territory
  • Develop strategic account plans to grow revenue, volume, margin, and market share
  • Build relationships with decision-makers across purchasing, operations, and leadership
  • Prepare, present, and negotiate proposals, pricing, and commercial agreements
  • Manage opportunities and sales activity through CRM, including pipeline and forecasting
  • Conduct customer visits, plant tours, product trials, and technical consultations
  • Partner with Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain, and other internal teams to deliver a strong customer experience
  • Maintain and grow existing relationships while identifying opportunities for additional business
  • Address customer service, quality, or delivery concerns in partnership with internal teams
  • Open new doors, win new business, secure new logos, and expand market presence across the territory

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically 4–8 years of outside sales, business development, or account management experience
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and business development goals
  • Comfortable with frequent local travel and some overnight travel
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a territory-based sales environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand pricing, profitability, and customer needs
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage prospects, opportunities, and forecasts
  • Industrial packaging, manufacturing, distribution, or related B2B sales experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Candidates should reside within or near the assigned territory
  • Must be comfortable with frequent travel to meet customers and prospects
