About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide engineering support for projects at EMEA manufacturing facilities
  • Design and implement machine and line control systems
  • Modify and improve control systems for existing and new equipment and processes
  • Perform project studies, calculations, concept design, detail design, and documentation
  • Specify and order control system equipment and materials
  • Debug and test equipment
  • Provide technical guidance and support for machine and process control systems, including troubleshooting, breakdown support, training, RCPS
  • Coordinate projects and assist with installation and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate equipment and layouts for productivity, flow, energy efficiency, and safety
  • Prepare and implement improvement proposals
  • Maintain accurate documentation according to OSG procedures and CE machine directive
  • Monitor vendors and customers to ensure progress, deliverables, and sound practices
  • Maintain current engineering knowledge in electrical system design, PLC programming, machine safety regulations, directives, and standards such as EN60204 and NEN1010
  • Adhere to Greif Safety, Health and Environmental Policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong PLC and HMI programming skills
  • Practical knowledge on pneumatics, hydraulics, servo systems, robotics
  • Experience in design of machine control systems - hardware and software
  • General engineering knowledge (electrical + mechanical) and experience in manufacturing
  • Strong computer skills
  • PLC and HMI programming
  • Eplan & Acad or equivalent
  • Project-organization skills
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and how to apply this in own work area (e.g. SMED, RCPS)
  • Proactively work on improvements
  • Good knowledge of English language
  • Knowledge and practical application skills of machine directive and machine safety regulations
  • Documentation of design and reporting
  • Extensive travel throughout EMEA (approximately 50%)
