About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain the firmwide wealth-strategy framework
- Translate the firm’s capabilities into a repeatable wealth-design process
- Establish planning standards based on clients’ motivations, concerns, priorities, family circumstances and desired outcomes
- Define when and how specialized planning capabilities should be introduced
- Identify emerging planning needs and recommend capabilities, partnerships, technology and talent
- Build and manage Grimes’ ultra-high-net-worth offering
- Serve as senior strategist on significant high-net-worth and complex client opportunities
- Partner with Wealth Managers and Regional Directors during discovery, proposal development and key client meetings
- Diagnose planning opportunities and coordinate internal and external specialists
- Engage clients and outside advisors on estate, trust, tax, philanthropic, business succession and multigenerational wealth matters
- Connect Financial Planning, Investment Management, Wealth Protection, Trust Services, Tax Advisors and centralized resources into a unified client experience
- Define referral, intake, ownership and handoff processes
- Coordinate advice while maintaining legal, regulatory and information-sharing boundaries
- Build and manage relationships with external professional partners
- Drive planning adoption across the firm
- Create conversation guides, discovery frameworks, case studies, client-facing materials and planning playbooks
- Lead advisor training and coaching
- Establish strategic case-consultation forums
- Lead and develop the centralized planning team
- Establish team roles, service standards, capacity expectations and development paths
- Participate in leadership, Financial Planning Committee and governance meetings
- Report on utilization, capacity, advisor adoption, client outcomes and strategic opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in finance, financial planning, accounting, economics, law or a related discipline
- JD or other advanced designation such as CFP, CPA, CPWA®, ChFC®, CTFA or CEPA® is required
- Twelve plus years of experience in wealth management, financial planning, private banking, trust, tax or family-office services
- Demonstrated experience advising high-net-worth and complex families
- Strong knowledge of retirement, estate, tax, investment, insurance and charitable-planning concepts
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams or coordinating professionals across multiple advisory disciplines
- Proven ability to translate complex strategies into clear client recommendations
- Experience developing advisor tools, planning processes, service models or client-delivery standards
- Familiarity with Salesforce, financial-planning platforms, custodial systems and emerging AI-enabled advisor tools is beneficial
