About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive international student recruitment to Swinburne University of Technology from China to achieve agreed targets
- Recruit high-quality international students for Swinburne’s Melbourne campuses and support recruitment for the Malaysia campus
- Promote SUT’s value proposition and student experience
- Support China education articulation arrangements, agent management, school recruitment, educational partnerships, sponsor relationships and direct sales channels
- Generate new leads and increase conversion from leads to applications and accepted offers to enrolments
- Identify student recruitment opportunities across Melbourne and Malaysia offerings, including deployment of digital technologies
- Travel extensively within China and possibly the broader region, approximately three months per calendar year
- Deliver regional sales and recruitment activities and achieve annual enrolment targets
- Develop and support university articulation partnerships and pathway arrangements
- Conduct online and in-person Open Days, information seminars and conversion workshops
- Work with Future Students and Marketing teams on innovative plans, social media and lead acquisition
- Maintain current knowledge of SUT products and processes and provide accurate advice to prospective students
- Use CRM to manage qualified leads across direct, agency and partner channels and convert them to applications
- Deliver quarterly activity plans and monthly activity reports, including market updates and compliant travel and expenditure
- Train SUT international agents and school counsellors and ensure agent compliance with Australian and international legislation
- Maintain knowledge of ESOS Act, DIBP regulations, AVCC National Code and privacy legislation
- Develop knowledge of Chinese education systems, qualifications, pathways and admission requirements
- Generate performance data, evaluation reports, recommendations, market insights and competitor analysis
- Research and interpret qualifications and experience to maintain University entry standards
- Assess applications and issue offer letters and eCoEs as required
- Monitor visa statuses in PRISMS and follow up with students through the admissions cycle
- Provide timely, accurate and efficient customer service to students, agents, partners and stakeholders
- Contribute to recruitment plans, compliance audits, agent reviews, promotional materials and genuine student background checks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed a Bachelor or Master degree with 5–10 years of relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in a highly relevant field; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Expert knowledge of international student recruitment and/or admissions practices
- Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of SUT’s products, courses, policies and procedures
- Experience working with international students and in stakeholder relationship marketing using a Customer Relationship Management system, with demonstrated ability to close sales with this target group
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to establish positive organisational relationships across internal and external stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds
- Influencing skills leading to successful business outcomes
- Ability to develop high-quality documentation including reports, plans, policies and correspondence
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including evaluating and interpreting complex data and making admissions assessments
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, achieve target outcomes and resolve problems without supervision, using sound judgement, flexibility and initiative
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and clients from all levels and backgrounds and deliver responsive customer service
- Excellent English communication skills and fluency in Mandarin
- Valid passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in CRM systems (desirable)
- Knowledge of StudyLink Connect platforms (desirable)
- Knowledge and skills using Chinese social media tools such as WeChat and Red (desirable)
- Background in customer acquisition, engagement and conversion strategies (desirable)
- Understanding of nurture marketing, student decision-making process and future student lifecycles (desirable)
- Other Chinese languages and dialects or North Asian languages (desirable)
- Ability to work during evenings and weekends and travel extensively in China and overseas when required
