About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the University of Waterloo’s undergraduate student recruitment activities across Southeast Asia
- Disseminate information about Waterloo and its undergraduate programs to stakeholders
- Execute localized regional promotion and brand-building activities
- Build and nurture relationships with study abroad agencies and counselors
- Build and nurture relationships with high school guidance counselors
- Follow up with prospective students throughout the recruitment cycle to support conversion, transition, and enrollment at Waterloo
- Train and support study abroad agencies and high school guidance counselors
- Collaborate with the admissions office, staff, and Faculties to maximize Waterloo’s profile
- Plan and deliver market activities supporting Waterloo’s brand and reputation
- Identify and share higher education trends affecting student mobility and overseas education, particularly trends impacting Canada as a study destination
- Provide strategic recommendations on local recruitment initiatives and opportunities to enhance Waterloo’s brand presence and reputation in Southeast Asia
- Travel frequently, with significant travel time required (40%)
- Work collaboratively within a team environment and support colleagues as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2–4+ years of experience in increasingly responsible roles related to education or international education
- Proven track record of building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders to support student recruitment
- Experience presenting to large and small groups and interacting with prospective students, families, alumni, and high school counselors
- Experience representing an overseas institution is an advantage
- Bachelor’s degree with good to strong academic performance
- Strong English at a Professional Working Proficiency, including a high standard of business writing skills
- Study or experience abroad is strongly preferred
- Canada-related experience would be an asset
- Voluntary or other life experience demonstrating creativity, hard work, persistence, and a drive to succeed
