About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a global multidisciplinary development team within R&D through early drug development from Candidate Selection through completion of Proof of Concept and activities sufficient to initiate Phase 2b
Lead the multifunctional global Early Development Team responsible for delivering an asset to Phase 2b
Direct medicine development strategy and plans from Candidate Selection through Proof of Concept/Commit to Medicine Development
Contribute to regional and global product strategy
Interface with senior management, internal and external stakeholders to articulate and drive medicine development strategy
Coordinate with Commercial and other key functions to align strategy and project delivery timelines
Prioritize asset development options and manage the budget
Facilitate project progression and issue resolution using organizational channels, experience, and influencing skills
Create and maintain the medicine development strategy
Lead the EDT in creating an integrated, multidisciplinary, global asset development plan
Create and maintain the overall project budget
Represent the EDT at milestone reviews and governance boards within ViiV and GSK
Influence integrated multidisciplinary project activities at technical, operational, and strategic levels

Requirements

What you’ll need

MSc and 10+ years of drug development experience
Experience establishing and executing a drug development strategy
Experience presenting scientific data to internal key stakeholders and external audiences
Physician (MD or DO), PhD, or PharmD with clinical fellowship or research experience in Infectious Diseases (preferred)
10+ years of drug development, including deep expertise in Oral Drug Development
Effective communication skills
Good interpersonal relationship building/maintenance
Early development experience from Phase 1 to Phase 2a
Experience in HIV drug development
Excellent leadership experience in a matrix environment
Understanding of pharmaceutical job development
