About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the global External Manufacturing digital and technology roadmap
- Own end-to-end delivery of digital integration solutions across enterprise technology environments
- Partner with External Manufacturing operations and selected CDMOs to identify challenges and shape, prototype, and validate Smart Manufacturing, data, and AI use cases
- Build collaboration with technology vendors, external companies, industry bodies, and GSK functions
- Lead product and programme delivery using Agile and hybrid methods
- Manage roadmap and backlog prioritisation, user stories, sprint and release planning, RAID management, governance, operational readiness, adoption, and value realisation
- Set release quality, service-level, and support-transition criteria and confirm they are met before handover
- Convert local learning into global product requirements, reusable agents, integration patterns, reference architectures, onboarding models, and deployment playbooks
- Act as the primary digital and technology partner across External Manufacturing, site leadership, global product teams, and external partners
- Embed Responsible AI, cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, GxP, validation, architecture, service management, and regulatory requirements throughout the solution lifecycle
- Manage team use of approved AI tools with human review and compliance with GSK requirements
- Develop investment cases and scaling strategies, manage financial forecasts and supplier inputs, and provide executive-level reporting
- Build capability through coaching, documentation, knowledge transfer, and communities of practice
- Ensure validated solutions transition to accountable product or service teams for scale, support, and lifecycle ownership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant degree, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Information Technology, Manufacturing Systems, or a related technical discipline
- Proven experience leading digital, integration, or technology transformation in manufacturing or supply-chain environments
- External Manufacturing/CDMO experience preferred
- Strong understanding of or experience with CMC/NPI, Supply Chain, manufacturing, and quality management systems (QMS)
- Knowledge of integration architecture, APIs, middleware, event/data platforms, canonical data models, and scalable factory integration layers
- Experience shaping and delivering Smart Manufacturing, AI, agent-based, data, and analytics use cases, including PoC, PoV, MVP, and production scale-up
- Strong experience designing, developing, and validating AI-enabled digital solutions and Smart Manufacturing capabilities
- Strong technical knowledge from working in a highly regulated industry
- Experience with Agile and hybrid delivery methods, roadmap and backlog prioritisation, user stories, sprint and release planning, RAID management, governance, operational readiness, adoption, and value realisation
- Knowledge of Responsible AI, cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, GxP, validation, architecture, service management, and regulatory requirements
- Experience developing investment cases, scaling strategies, financial forecasts, supplier inputs, and executive-level reporting
- Skills including Application Integrations, API Security, CI/CD, Cloud Engineering, Configuration Management, Database Management, Data Engineering, Data Integration, Front-End Development, IoT, Mobile Development, RESTful API Design, Security System Design, SDLC, Version Control, and Web Development
