About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day sales and support for mortgage applications from community financial centers, web, external referral sources, and inbound phone inquiries
- Ensure member loan requests meet members’ needs
- Review credit and automated underwriting decisions
- Make and follow up on initial document requests from borrowers
- Prepare loans for underwriting review
- Meet with and counsel members on mortgage loan options under current product guidelines
- Develop referral strategies with Community Financial Center teammates through product training and sales techniques
- Engage with community organizations, realtor events, lead groups, and local chamber activities to develop referrals
- Proactively solicit new residential mortgage business and represent GTE in the market
- Develop and maintain referral contacts with realtors, builders, and other professionals
- Analyze loan documentation for prequalification and enter full applications into the Loan Operating System
- Communicate denials and counter-offers upfront
- Maintain mortgage product and service knowledge
- Reinforce selling points, rates, payments, and terms of mortgage products
- Ensure regulatory compliance and provide legally required disclosures
- Participate in weekly or bi-weekly team meetings, conference calls, and assigned events
- Implement action plans focused on lending-product opportunities
- Meet performance goals and production targets
- Work additional hours as needed to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college preferred
- Minimum 1–3 years’ experience or combination of education and experience
- Qualify for NMLS registration according to the Safe Act
- Working knowledge of the secondary market, FHA, VA, and credit union portfolio loans and related documentation
- Working knowledge of GTE’s full suite of lending products and other member products
- Functional knowledge of applicable federal laws and regulations
- Functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and Bank Bribery Act
- Ability to handle multiple job responsibilities and tasks
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with management and staff
- Desire to provide exceptional member experience and needs-based selling
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Quiet workplace for remote work
- Meet performance standards required for alternative work arrangements
- Candidates must provide and meet all technical requirements before the first day of training
- Hybrid candidates must live within driving distance of the office and regularly commute as needed
