About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Expand and manage strategic biopharma partnerships across Guardant Health’s oncology portfolio
- Create strategy and drive initiatives across internal and external stakeholder groups
- Develop new accounts, grow existing partnerships, advance commercial opportunities, and deliver an outstanding partner experience
- Build partnerships leveraging Guardant’s tests, data capabilities, clinical trial services, biomarker discovery solutions, and companion diagnostic opportunities
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with biopharma prospects and customers
- Develop business cases, account plans, sales forecasts, and partnership strategies
- Manage partner relationships and commercial opportunities, including organizational mapping, meeting preparation, proposals, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and closing agreements
- Educate external partners on Guardant’s oncology portfolio, data capabilities, clinical trial services, and companion diagnostic opportunities
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with research, alliance management, bioinformatics, quality, scientific affairs, clinical operations, product, legal, finance, marketing, regulatory, R&D, and commercial teams
- Conduct market and customer analysis covering oncology dynamics, competitive trends, customer needs, pricing, and partnership opportunities
- Prepare executive-ready updates on pipeline health, revenue opportunities, customer trends, competitive intelligence, and strategic tradeoffs
- Communicate partner needs and priorities to BioPharma leadership and influence internal decisions
- Build relationships with biopharma decision-makers and industry stakeholders
- Represent Guardant Health at conferences, customer meetings, scientific forums, and networking events
- Follow business development processes, tools, training materials, and best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related field typically required
- 8–10+ years of relevant experience typically required
- 8+ years of experience in business development, sales, consulting, diagnostics, biopharma, CROs, oncology, precision medicine, or related life sciences
- Experience developing and closing fee-for-services, companion diagnostics, and commercial agreements, including contract negotiation, account growth, and partner management
- Strong understanding of oncology, biomarker development, companion diagnostics, clinical trial services, sequencing technologies, precision medicine, and clinical diagnostics market dynamics
- Knowledge of regulatory, reimbursement, and market access considerations
- Strong analytical, commercial, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Experience with market analysis, forecasting, business case development, pipeline management, executive reporting, and translating complex scientific and business concepts for senior stakeholders
- Resourcefulness and ability to operate with broad latitude, prioritize complex opportunities, influence cross-functional teams, resolve tradeoffs, and drive decisions in ambiguous or fast-moving situations
- Independent, proactive self-starter able to manage multiple opportunities, balance emerging and ongoing relationships, deliver commitments on time, build scalable processes, and support broader team success
- Ability to critically evaluate and responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Track record in epigenomics or application development is a plus
- Background screening including criminal history required
- Ability to sit for extended periods and use office equipment; may encounter laboratory noise, fumes, and biohazard materials
