About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of Account Executives within a designated region
  • Promote SHIELD to general-practice providers and their practices
  • Recruit, hire, coach, develop, and lead Account Executives for the launch and promotion of SHIELD
  • Prospect and target early adopters to generate SHIELD adoption
  • Identify, establish, and manage partnerships with national, regional, and local laboratories offering phlebotomy draw agreements
  • Build relationships and advocacy with key thought leaders and decision-makers
  • Manage 8–12 direct reports
  • Drive team performance through coaching, motivation, feedback, and development
  • Manage regional sales targets and report progress to management
  • Forecast and achieve quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Ensure effective use of sales processes and approved marketing and promotional materials
  • Share best practices nationally
  • Manage open territories and recruit replacement personnel when needed
  • Develop and implement a regional business plan covering budgets, travel, territory management, and goals
  • Collect and communicate customer insights, market trends, and competitive data
  • Present product technology and clinical benefits to customers
  • Collaborate with Key Account Managers and commercial team members to optimize health-system performance
  • Establish communication and team operating mechanisms
  • Leverage Medical Science Liaisons, Account Executives, and company resources to provide technical, clinical, and business content
  • Lead and participate in regional, national, and cross-functional headquarters projects
  • Serve as backup to National Sales Director(s) when needed
  • Mentor individuals within or outside the commercial organization
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Regulatory, and Company policies and guidelines
  • Travel approximately 75% of working time within the assigned area and occasionally outside it for regional or national meetings
  • Travel with direct reports to observe, train, and coach

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of direct experience in a customer-facing sales role in medical, diagnostic, or medical device sales
  • Consistent closing abilities throughout the sales cycle and proven performance meeting or exceeding expectations
  • 3+ years of experience in sales leadership or sales management
  • Demonstrated measurable revenue generation at a diagnostic, pharmaceutical, or relevant biotechnology company
  • Proven experience leading sales teams promoting products or services directly to primary care providers, gastroenterologists, and their practices
  • Experience in a sales leadership role during a product launch
  • Outstanding influencing, interpersonal, networking, oral, verbal communication, presentation, listening, negotiation, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and educate others
  • Experience with reach and frequency, high-decile healthcare-provider targeting, and production/coverage
  • Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills, including reporting and tracking sales-force metrics
  • Ability to engage in consultative selling and overcome objections and indifference
  • Strong market, customer, distribution, and product knowledge
  • Strategic business analysis and planning skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Ability to develop and use cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to work independently, communicate proactively, manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong administrative skills and sophistication in complex environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Regular use of Salesforce.com
  • Experience using or coaching to different sales methodologies
  • Must meet customer access requirements
  • Must pass a background screening including criminal history
  • B.S. in life science, biology, business, or marketing is ideal (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to critically evaluate and responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools according to company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
